Our History
Gibbs Truck & Trailer Parts (GTTP) was founded in 1957 by Ivan Gibbs and Bert Wilson. It started as a car and truck wrecking yard business for the Gibbs family before it was taken over by the current owners Paul and Chris Gibbs in 1980. Over the years, it has grown to become what it is today; a key supplier of parts in the trucking industry.
Since Paul and Chris took over, they have been actively involved in the daily running of the business. In 1997, GTTP closed its truck wrecking business to focus on providing new parts to its growing number of customers. All parts provided by GTTP carry full manufacturer’s warranty. In the month of October 2000, GTTP successfully opened a second outlet in Gold Coast located at Burleigh Heads. This outlet has a fully equipped shop for drive shaft repair.
In the same year (2000), the company increased its differential and transmission repair range of products to include vehicles made in Europe such as Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Scania, ZF and Renault. Our differential, transmission and drive shaft repair services have continued to grow with the increase in market demand.
In 2002, a new company that goes by the name Gibbs Parts Pty Ltd was created to specialize in the provision of parts for Japanese trucks and some American and European models. The outlet for this company is situated at Rocklea. Since then, there have been so many successful start ups.
